Colposcopy Education Program (CEP)

There are two tiers to this program:

  • In-Person and Online Options: The ASCCP offers both in-person and online Comprehensive Colposcopy Courses: COMP Courses
  • Eligibility for the Exam: To be eligible for the CEP Exam, participants must have taken the Comprehensive Colposcopy Course (either in-person or online) within the past year.

Only those who have completed the Comprehensive Colposcopy Course within the past year are eligible to sit for the CEP Exam.

  • Upon passing the exam, you will receive a Certificate of Completion confirming that you have successfully completed the course and exam.
  • However, this certificate is not a national certification or a guarantee of the ability to perform colposcopies independently.
  • There are currently no national training guidelines or certifications specifically for colposcopy, either through ASCCP or any other organization. This program provides a Certificate of Completion indicating the successful completion of both the course and exam.
  • The exam is intended as a knowledge assessment after completing the course, not as an independent certification.
  • Exam Fee: The exam fee is $150.
  • Retake Policy: You have up to one year to take the exam, with two attempts to pass the 120 minute exam (40 minutes per section). A score of 70% or higher is considered passing. If you do not pass and would like to sit for the exam again, you are required to take the Comprehensive Colposcopy Course again. (In-person or Online qualifies)
